Category B (Pharmacy Technician)

Pharmacy technician is a health care person who performs different pharmacy linked functions such as compounding and work under the supervision of legally qualified and licensed pharmacist. Pharmacy technician is also called as pharmaceutical technician. Those students who pass pharmacy technician course are usually registered in category B in Pakistan. Pharmacy council of Pakistan (PCP) is the main exam conducting body and will take examination of all the enrolled students.

OBJECTIVES:

Make them able to work either;

Ø  In retail and or community pharmacy,

Ø  In hospital pharmacy,

Ø  Inventory management and

Ø  Infection control as well.

SCOPE:

Ø  Their job duties include provision of prescription drugs and the medical devices to patients and instructing on their use.

Ø  They may also perform administrativeduties in pharmaceutical practice, such as reviewing prescription request with doctor’s offices.

Ø  Insurancecompanies to ensure correct medications are provided and payment is received.

Ø  In recent times, pharmacy technicians also speak directly with the patients on the phone to aid in the awareness of taking medicines on time.

Eligibility Criteria

Metric with science

 Duration of this course is two years in annual system.
